Now that you have covered all the basics of nutrition of the dog and cat, it's
time to take a look at some specific issues surrounding the feeding of our
pets.
First we will examine the digestibility
of pet foods. Palatability is also
of utmost importance since there is nothing less nutritious than a food an
animal will not eat!
The nutritional requirements of dogs and cats do not remain constant throughout
life, so we also explore the principles of lifestage
nutrition in this module.
With all the different types of pet foods on the market, it can be difficult
to decide which food is the most appropriate for a particular animal. To help
you in your selection, guidelines for choosing a pet
food are included in this module.
The last section examines the role of supplements
in the diet, with some important information about the harmful effects
of over-enthusiastic use of supplements.
