Module 6 Advanced Nutrition Topics

 |
Now that we have learned the fundamentals of feeding dogs and
cats, this final module of course 1 is designed to explore some of the more
complex issues which arise in cat and dog nutrition.
The first topic we cover is the special
nutritional requirements of cats. Cats have a unique metabolism when compared
with dogs and many other species, including humans. Some of these differences
are explained in detail in this section.
The second area of interest is feeding
behaviour of cats and dogs. Wide-ranging research into this topic has
been conducted at the WALTHAM Centre for Pet Nutrition, and many of their
findings are presented here.
The next topic is functional foods.
There has been great interest in this area of research by human nutritionists,
and many functional food components have applications in the feeding of dogs
and cats.
The final topic we cover is an extension of the previous one,
specifically the role of antioxidants in the diet
of dogs and cats. This exciting area of nutrition offers the promise of many
potential health benefits.
Once you satisfied that you have a good knowledge of all the
topics in course 1, you can continue on to course 2.
On-line learning is the convenient way to study!
